The Head's Companion is a tool that helps a school leader stay organised against the Independent School Standards, which ISI and Ofsted inspect against, and the Standards for British Schools Overseas. It does not give regulated, legal or safeguarding advice. Guidance is to verify against the source, not a guarantee of compliance.
Documents your school uploads are stored as working copies for your convenience. The Head's Companion is not a document management system of record: keep master copies of all policies and evidence in the school's own filing system. Uploaded documents are deleted thirty days after an account closes, in line with the privacy policy.
Your content and interpretation. The Head's Companion gives you the framework and the standards; the content is yours. How you complete your register, the policies you write, the evidence you gather and record, and how you interpret and apply each standard to your school are the school's responsibility. We do not write your policies, gather your evidence, or make your compliance judgments for you, and we are not responsible for the content a school produces or for the way it interprets or applies a standard.
Our standards. The standards and duties in the product are taken directly from the official sources, including the Independent School Standards, the Standards for British Schools Overseas, the COBIS standards and KCSIE, and we make every effort to keep them current as regulatory changes come into force. We signpost each source so you can read it in full, and the published source is always the authoritative version.
Not advice. The product shows you what a standard requires and points you to its source. It does not give regulated, legal or safeguarding advice on how to meet it, and it does not replace inspection or professional judgment.
Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any inspection outcome or regulatory finding, or for indirect or consequential loss, arising from the content a school produces or the way it uses the product. Our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
The Head's Companion, including its design and software and in particular its obligations library and readiness framework, is the intellectual property of Sophyra Limited and is protected by copyright and database right. Your subscription, and any free trial, is a licence to use the product for the internal purposes of your own school. You may not copy, reproduce, extract, scrape, reverse-engineer, resell, or use the product or its content to build or assist a competing product. A free trial is for genuine evaluation by a bona fide school only.
The Head's Companion is an Education Options product, operated by Sophyra Limited, a company registered in Ireland (company number 817595) trading under the registered business name Education Options (business name number 787480). These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland.
